ADHD Wham stands for "ADHD Women of Hamilton". We are organized by women, for women*.
We are here to support each other, share our experiences, and create a safe space where we can learn, grow, and thrive.
Sorely disappointed with the lack of support available for women with ADHD, our founder posted a message on a local community app, asking if anyone else was interested in trying to change this on a local level. Our co-founder replied to that message. They met and started planning, then recruiting volunteers. It was months of a group of women who had, or suspected they had, ADHD meeting at each others homes.
With the gracious assistance of a local therapist, we rented some space and opened the group up to the public. We received the help of a therapist, and the therapist was able to use their time volunteering to accumulate their required client contact hours. Win win.
Now we have partnered with a local Counselling Centre and their clinical intern therapists. Again, we receive professional support and they accumulate their required client contact hours.
We are extremely grateful for the assistance of all of the therapists and our volunteers. We would not be able to do this without you!
What We Do
We offer monthly structured meetings with occasional social events and informal get togethers. Together, we will work towards understanding ADHD from a personal and practical perspective. Our goal is to create a sense of community and belonging, where people get you. We want to provide a judgement free space for women to share their experiences and challenges.
We invite guest speakers to our monthly structured meetings so that we can all learn and better understand ADHD and how it impacts us, both in a negative and a positive way. Through learning and expanding your support systems, you empower yourself to be more confident, less overwhelmed, and ready to take things on with a broader perspective.

*When we say "women," we include anyone who identifies as a woman. We also strive to be a welcoming and respectful space for non-binary and gender-diverse individuals who feel that a women-centred group resonates with their experience. We are a peer-led support group for women and gender-diverse people living with ADHD. Our group was created to provide a supportive space where women can share their experiences and challenges, particularly those shaped by gender norms, hormonal cycles, and societal expectations that often go unrecognized in traditional ADHD resources.
Please note that our group is entirely volunteer-run. While we occasionally invite professional counsellors or educators to speak on specific topics, we do not have formal training or professional expertise in supporting the unique needs of trans and non-binary individuals. We're always learning and doing our best, but we want to be transparent about our current scope and limitations.
If you are unsure whether this group is the right fit for you, feel free to reach out! We’re happy to chat and help you make the decision that’s best for you.
